ABOUT US
The Textile Museum Associates of Southern California, Inc. (TMA/SC) is a
non-profit organization, presenting monthly educational programs, field trips,
special events and discussions focused on handmade textiles, weaving, carpets
and costumes from around the world, including
• Ethnographic and tribal weavings
• Oriental carpets
• Contemporary art textiles
• Historic and prehistoric textiles
• Tapestry
• Ikat
• Embroidery
• Shibori and batik
• Wearable art
• Cultural sources and contexts of weavings
• Conservation and restoration
TMA/SC was founded in 1985 by a group of Southern Californians united by a
common interest in Oriental rugs and textiles and who were supporting members of
The Textile Museum in Washington, D.C. TMA/SC encourages membership in and
support of The Textile Museum. TMA/SC is also a member organization of the
American Conference on Oriental Rugs (ACOR).
